Summer Sizzle Slim down Challenge, week 2 and walk 5 miles a day challenge…

My Current ChallengesandCLICK on image to see challenge

Well I did it, I rocked week 2. The goal was 6 hours of exercise and to walk 5 miles a day 20 out of the 30 days of June.. Other then Wednesday and today (and it’s not over yet) I have walked 8-10 miles a day and each days exercise is about 100 minutes or more. So for both challenges I did great. I am still tracking, 12 days and counting and my average is about 1300 calories a day. Some days up to 1500 but most days about 1100 or so. Not bad. Now my food choices haven’t been tip top but I’m staying in my calorie range but I know that a piece of cake isn’t as good as a fruit salad which isn’t as good as some fresh fruits and veggies but with two graduation open houses yesterday and cake was offered and not the fresh veggies…well the cake won. Just a small piece (twice, two parties) but it is what it is and today is a new day.

Our next week is suppose to be a new exercise or a new piece of equipment. Well I didn’t get to Wal-mart for a new exercise DVD and I’m not at a gym anymore but I am betting that the stretching exercises that Deanna posted for me will count as new exercise. I asked her about stretching exercises and she sent me (well really a whole post about it…click here and see) lots of ideas so I’m going to start to really put my mind into stretching before and after my walk/jogs. I sorta do something but like maybe a minute or two and I know very well it’s important to take the time to do them so that will be my new exercise for the week. However, my week will only be two days of jogging/walking because I am leaving for Wyoming Tuesday night and won’t be home until really late Sunday which also means I might miss the check in on Sunday (and journaling my calories because I’m not sure what I’ll have for internet but I will bring my net book and try) but I’ll tell you about my hiking, climbing, biking, visiting, site seeing and my most important reason, being with Mike, then. I know I’ll get some exercise in when I’m there, it just won’t be my usual but as long as this butt is moving, it’s good. IT’S REALLY GOOD!!!

So there is last weeks update and this week’s heads up. I doubt you’ll hear from me until next Monday but if I can I will at least write a quick something if possible. Be well my friends. Have a blessed Sunday, an awesome week and keep doing your best to become the happiest, healthiest people we can be.

Great week!!!
Make sure you take LOTS of pictures while youre hiking, and seeing new sites!! I cant wait to travel "with you".
And, this is just personal opinion, but I never stretch cold muscles. This is a video of the 'warmups' that I do before I run. http://marathontraining.tv/uncategorized/chirunning-body-looseners-and-four-dynamic-warm-up-exercises-for-runners
Then I walk briskly for 5 minutes, and then my muscles are warmed up, if you still want to stretch, this is a good time to do it. And then always stretch when youre finished. I have found that I have a lot less muscles aches when I end with stretching.

You did so good last week, you totally get to take it easier this week. And hiking is a new exercise too, or? :)

Julie - you are doing so great. I am so impressed with how many miles you are logging each day. It's really to be commended! I hope you enjoy your time with your son and enjoy the week ahead. I think the linky will stay active until Monday next week so you can post whenever you get a chance.
Have a wonderful week and keep that butt moving! You are doing this challenge proud!

You ARE killing the challenge. Congrats, great job. And I am so happy stretching is going to be your new exercise this week.... cool. Deb. is right btw, be very carefully stretching on cold muscles, after a walk/ worm-up is best. I hope your legs feel better with more stretches. Have you tried rolling like a ball yet? :)

Great job doing all of that walking/jogging/running! I too love to jog, and after seeing your goal for 2012, I am totally impressed. I keep track of how much I do each week, but I've never added up the weeks to get the grand total. (It wouldn't be anywhere near what you're getting in!) But I do think I'll do it, just to see. And again, wahoo to you for all the exercise you're doing. You must be very strong and fit.

I never stretch my legs, but often at night, I need to get up after I've gone to bed and do a little stretching. Otherwise they're too "twitchy" for me to get to sleep. ;) The stretching makes the twitchy-ness go away.

Wow, Julie! You had a terrific week 2! Excellent exercise and staying within your calorie budget. Kudos, too, for staying within your budget and going to two grad parties.

I am so happy for you that it is now only 2 days away when you leave to see Mike. I can only imagine how very excited you are. I know you will both have a great time catching up and doing things together. I hope you do lots of hiking when you are there. Travel safely!
